Dealloying - Forms of Corrosion
Переглядів 6206 місяців тому
Dealloying is a form of corrosion, where a part of the alloy is selectively removed. As a result, the metal becomes porous and has weakened mechanical properties. Pitting Corrosion - Forms of Corrosion
Переглядів 11 тис.Рік тому
Pitting corrosion is a localized form of corrosion that leads to the formation of small pits or cavities on the surface of a metal. It occurs when a small area of the metal is exposed to a more aggressive environment, while the surrounding area remains relatively protected. Crevice Corrosion - Forms of Corrosion
Переглядів 9 тис.Рік тому
Crevice corrosion is a type of localized corrosion that occurs in confined spaces between two surfaces. This can happen in narrow gaps, crevices, or joints, where oxygen and other corrosive agents can become trapped and create a localized environment that is conducive to corrosion. Corrosion in Concrete - Forms of Corrosion
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
Corrosion in reinforced concrete is a prevalent issue that can lead to structural weakening and reduced lifespan. It results from the exposure of reinforcing steel to moisture and oxygen, which promotes rusting. This problem is observed in various types of infrastructure, including buildings and bridges, that employ reinforced concrete in their construction. Handbook of Corrosion captaincorrosi...

Corrosion of Dental Implants - Forms of Corrosion
Переглядів 729Рік тому
Corrosion is a major concern in implant dentistry as it can result in implant and treatment failure. Dental implants are commonly composed of titanium, known for its high resistance to corrosion due to the formation of a stable oxide layer on its surface. Despite this, localized pitting or crevice corrosion can occur due to specific conditions such as high mechanical stresses, an acidic environ...
Microbial Corrosion - Forms of Corrosion
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
Microbial corrosion, also known as microbiologically influenced corrosion, is a type of corrosion that occurs as a result of the activity of microorganisms such as bacteria, archaea, and fungi. These microorganisms can attach themselves to metal surfaces and create an environment that is conducive to corrosion. In this video we discuss microbial corrosion in detail. Nicely illustrated, thanks.
what does the quartz crystal do?
Quartz Chrystal Microbalance (QCM) is a cost efficient and accurate film growth measurement tool for ALD depositions
@@CaptainCorrosion how does it measure the film?
The crystal oscillates by applying a voltage onto its electrodes and this oscillation is very sensitive to any change of mass. So you can basically detect if anything deposits on the QCM crystal during each ALD precursor pulse
I jusy licked up a dc power supply 100v 3amps will this work or should inhave got the 30v 10amp supply? I want a hard coat.
For a thicker coating you may want at least 50V and for larger parts you need more amps. I think you are limited to small substrates with your 100V power supply and limited to thinner coatings with the 30V power supply but the latter one allows you to anodize larger pieces
Tanks ❤
thanks
wow! thanx for the perfect visual description !!
Perfect and easy to understand
very brief but yet helpful
Why the stupid and irrelevant music? :-(
On my way ton exam, brilliant video to watch prior
Thanks!
you're a hero
Bringing corrosion cost down to zero :D
Thanks man. Exactly what I wanted to know. Great video
maluquice
What is the need for cathode electrode on the right side? Electrons, after all, move from the cathode electrode on the left and end its journey on the anode at the middle.
This is wonderful thanks🙏
Really helpful
Thanks!
Can galavanic corrosion occur between two noble metals? And if so, how severe would it be?
So if I had a piece of platinum and gold touching eachother, gold will start to corrode?
Probably not in normal ambient conditions. In some harsh chemicals it may be possible though to see accelerated corrosion of gold in a gold-platinum coupling.
Nice 👍
Probably one of the best science videos I have watched. Thank you very much.
Thanks!
But the dry ice technically wouldn't be dry, since you put it in the drinks, therefore it's technically just normal ice. But hey, that's just a theory! A DRY ICE THEORY!
A wrong theory :D Dry ice would actually not touch the drink as it is surrounded by gas phase CO2 at all times due to rapid sublimation. At an atmospheric pressure that is.
@@CaptainCorrosion huh, well dang.
thanks
seems like CVD
very good, but I was looking a the females, more than what I should have been looking at, irrestable., a lovely distraction.
Thanks for watching :D
Great video, very informative. Thank you. 👍🙂
Thanks for watching!
Content is great, but sometimes voice is low compared to background sound.
Great😊
I want to carry out a numerical simulation of corrosion in combined cycle recovery boilers, as I intend to perform a comparative characterization between corroded and non-corroded boiler tubes. Which software should I use and how can I conduct this simulation?
So, we are suppose to give up a blowpipe and a set of fluxes for that contraption?? And the cost? About 50 grand! You don't do much prospecting do you ROTFLMAO!! Let's see, baking soda (cake mix isle), Washing soda and borax (laundry isle) Microcosmic salt (you make yourself) A blowpipe and candle (20 bucks), small mortar and pedestal, piece of pine charcoal and a $20 piece of Platinum wire. That found every mine in the United States ;) Think I am gonna hold off on your electronic marvel ;)
You explain it very good to me because I am sitting in this moment over my chemistry book ^^
Thanks! Maybe its because a materials scientist is better in explaining materials characterization with physical methods than a chemistry book written by a chemist :D
thanks, great vid
Hmmmm, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Looks a lot like a compressor for a gas turbine...
A steel pinch bolt has seized in an aluminium suspension arm, due to galvanic corrosion. What's the best way to get the bolt out? Is there a chemical I can use to break down the bond between the steel bolt and the aluminium arm?
I think the chemicals are quite dangerous and mechanical approach is more appropriate. But if it is stuck due to galvanic corrosion, then you are dealing with aluminium corrosion products, which is a mixture of aluminium oxide and aluminium hydroxide. This stuff is normally removed in a surface cleaning process by utilizing warm alkaline (e.g. NaOH) and concentrated HNO3. So my first idea would be to try some of the alkaline pipe cleaning solutions available at the store if mechanical approach fails. Afterwards you'll need to rinse it with a lot of water to get rid of the alkaline for safety. The alkaline may also damage the surrounding aluminium though. With these chemicals you'll definitely need eye protection and latex gloves as a minimum and make sure you do not breathe in the fumes - do it in open air.
Can tin be anodized? How about bismuth-tin alloys? I like adding tin to bismuth for casting to reduce brittleness but I'm disheartened the tin makes anodizing impossible.
Keep up the good work bro
Thanks!
The background music is irritating 😞
Nice video. But the sound is distracting.
❤
Can we use this technique to refreeze the artic?
I like the introduction background music. It was used in a game called R.U.S.E.
It is possible because we use stock music and sound effects in our videos.
hi
Hello there!
thanks captain

Welcome to the future! Enjoy your stay :D
Great video thank you so much! But I think the exiting music in the background makes it a litte hard to focus some times;)
Fake AI Voice. Give this shit a Thumbs Down
thank you, this contains a lot of valuable information. i am trying to the research of my PHD position, and this help me have a overview.
please make a video on selective leaching
Thanks for the video. My advice would be to get rid of the background music - in addition to being a distraction it makes the voiceover more difficult to hear.
Love your video . from Hindustan
Thank you!
